Sirius XM made a big splash in the podcasting world with the announcement of its acquisition of Simplecast.
In a statement Sirius XM says it will pair Simplecast, a platform for podcast creators, with its AdsWizz ad technology platform to create “end-to-end solution that enables creators to publish and generate revenue from their podcasts, all in one place.”
Though the terms of the agreement weren’t announced it proves yet again the power that traditional radio platforms see in podcasting.
Pandora acquired AdsWiz back in 2018 and completed its acquisition of Pandora the following year.
Founded by Brad Smith, Simplecast is a podcast management platform that enables podcasters to publish, manage and measure their content. According to a spokesman from Sirius XM, Smith and his team will remain on board board.
The company stated ““Simplecast and AdsWizz will form SiriusXM’s publisher solution business, a full-service platform designed to meet the needs of podcast creators of all sizes,”
